Auxetic Products There are at present no auxetic materials on sale. Methods exist for the production of fibres and foams. Product Technik will attempt to develop prototype production methods and distribution agreements in order to supply materials for product development. Materials for development will be distributed at low cost with a suitable 4 way Non Disclosure Agreement protecting the interests of the product developer, Auxetic Technologies Ltd, the owner of the original IPR and Product Technik. Auxetic Foams Product Technik hope to produce prototype quantities of foam for use by inventors and innovators within the next few months. Auxetic Fibres Product Technik hope to reach agreement to package and distribute small quantities of auxetic fibres for use by inventors and innovators within the next few months.
Above: Extruder at the University of Bolton for producing auxetic fibres Auxetic Multifilaments Auxetic multi-filaments, otherwise known as ropes, can be made from 2 materials having a significantly different stiffness, in particular a very stiff filament is wound around a thicker filament which is not so stiff, Neither filament needs to be auxetic for the effect to be observed.
Above: wrap a stiff filament around less stiff filament and stretch it the combination is auxetic
Above: Combine a number of auxetic pairs to create an auxetic structure Auxetic Films There are currently no auxetic films available. Should these become available Product Technik will try to reach agreement to distribute experimental quantities. Auxetic Honeycomb There is no known method for producing auxetic honeycomb in industrial quantities. Inventors could produce small quantities by folding the honeycomb materials. |
